'Sembreak' starts on Oct.28

Sison, Surigao del Norte - This year's semestral break will start on Monday, October 28 which coincides with the nationwide simultaneous barangay elections.

Students across the country can look forward to a week long break as classes are set to resume on the first Monday of November. DepEd Order No. 10 s.2013 provides that October 28-31, 2013 is the Mid-Year Assessment and INSET or Semestral Break. Teachers on the other hand, will still have to report for work as only the students are given a break from their regular classes.  During that time, reports and in service trainings (InSets) can be conducted. However, since Oct. 28 and Nov. 1 are legal holidays, shorter workdays are expected next week.

Every year, the Department of Education provides for a five-day furlough for students which usually starts on the last week of October.
