Teachers swap ATMs with Visa

Surigao City - Hundreds of teachers across Surigao del Norte swamped the local branch of the Development Bank of the Philippines over the weekend amidst an earlier advisory on the issuance of Visa Cards.

Teachers who had been issued with ATM cards since August 27, 2012 or earlier were advised to claim their new cards at the DBP branch in the city. They were told to bring with them their old card, photocopies of two valid IDs and 2 pieces 1 x 1 ID Pictures. On the other hand , those who had theirs on August 28, 2013 to July 31, 2013, are advised that these are still being processed.

The move was deemed timely as most activities nowadays are done electronically. Visa cards offer convenience as it allows holders to do cashless transactions on accredited merchants and access their funds anywhere in the world as long as these facilities carry the brand . Most teachers welcome the move as it will usher in a new level of purchasing experience.  The new DBP ATM Visa Card, functioning as both savings and debit card, will have a life span of five years.
