Sison CES Bags 100k Prize on Outstanding School Search

Sison, Surigao del Norte - Days of grueling work finally paid off for the faculty of Sison Central Elementary School and Sison SPED Center after their school was adjudged as the Most Outstanding Public Elementary School for the Province of Surigao del Norte besting other contenders during the evaluation held on September 25-  26, 2013. 

           Lucila L. Inot, Principal II of Sison Central Elementary School and Sison SPED Center (SSC Principal Eva E. Josue is on a two-month study leave in Davao City) said that "the search was challenging because they look into the performances of the school head, the learners, the teachers, the schools' testing program, and other DepEd projects and also the physical facilities and services as well as the community linkages." She further added that "the secret for their success is to know where you are going to". On the other hand, Claver National High School emerged as the winner for the Public Secondary School Category.
           
               Four other winners coming from the Divisions of Surigao City and Siargao were also awarded last night during the World Teachers' Day Program and Fellowship Dinner held at the Provincial Convention Center.  The event featured DepEd Assistant Secretary for Legal and Legislative Affairs Tonisito M.C. Umali as Guest of Honor as well as DepEd Caraga OIC RD Alberto T. Escobarte, Hon. Guillermo A. Romarate of District II, Hon. Francisco T. Matugas of District I and  Governor Sol F. Matugas.  Present also were the Schools Division Superintendents of Surigao del Norte , Dr. Evelyn R. Fetalvero CESO VI; Surigao City, Dr. Fidela M. Rosas; Dr. Gregoria T. Su, Siargao and the Mayors, District Supervisors, Principals and Teachers of the winning schools.

       Considered as a new program in this side of the region, The Search for Most Outstanding Public Elementary and Secondary Schools, is an initiative of the Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte under the H.E.A.L.S Agenda. It included schools which are already accredited by the Accreditation Program for Public Elementary Schools (APPES) and the Project Sterling Silver for Secondary Schools as contestants. The prize includes cash worth 100,000 pesos and the Governor's Seal of Excellence.  (Evans B. Daguman, Surigao del Norte Division)
